  Candyland

  Yes, it is a dumb game offering no choice for players... But it's a great "first" game. It requires no reading, number recognition, or counting. It's useful for teaching young children the joy & etiquette of playing games.

  Also, you'd be hard-pressed to find a book on game design that doesn't reference Candyland!
